As a reminder to everyone why it is important to document any / all medical changes through photographs (and if you're lucky) to have them video-taped... here is an example of how it can expedite correct treatment:
http://ca.shine.yahoo.com/video/healthyliving-22429516/stroke-video-helps-doctors-act-quickly-29540479.html#crsl=%252Fvideo%252Fhealthyliving-22429516%252Fstroke-video-helps-doctors-act-quickly-29540479.html
The woman in the above video was experiencing the initial stages of a massive stroke and because her fiance was smart enough to video-tape the initial on-set of the symptoms -- the MDs at the hospital were able to see for themselves what her early symptoms were AND the timeline in order to provide the correct diagnosis + treatment.
What I found interesting in the symptoms the woman was depicting is that 4-months after my infection in Europe I had been out for a bike ride and had the sudden on-set of numbness + drooping on my face and slurred speech. My next of kin didn't understand (or believe) the odd array of symptoms that I was telling him. Essentially the same things as the woman in the video, and that it felt like I had sudden dental freezing taking effect.
Hopefully if we can get our friends / family to instinctively take pictures + videos for the day-to-day events then families will have these important electronic 'paper trails' if/when serious health concerns arise.
For newbies on the board, here is the 2009 W5 2-part espisode that shows the video that the Sperlings' took of their son: http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/WFive/20091113/w5_lyme_091114/ |
