Tylenol for me because my stomach cannot tolerate advil or any other anti-inflamatory.
tylenol is hard on the liver, especially if you consume alcohol, and Ketek, one of the ABX I take is also hard on the liver, so I get my enzymes checked regularly.
I avoid alcohol completely....miss that scotch on the rocks....

Tylenol has never relieved my pain. Advil is pretty amazing when you take in consideration it is an OTC. I always felt bad for my mother who was only allowed Tylenol, because of her health problems. I would be taking bottles of it (Advil) if it weren't for my IBD.
In the Lyme book I am reading (slowly) it says to never take Tylenol on an empty stomach.
hugs

| I don't take any painkillers--I am just worried about my liver right now beng on strong abx--so I use heat/epsom s.alts for muscle pain. Luckily, I don't get headaches often. |

Advil works remarkably well, of course tho, it should being anti-inflam unlike Tylenol.
Without it, many lymies we would be unable to function or even get out of bed.
Tylenol is so hard on the liver and should be used with caution, like happygranny does. If Tylenol does the job and Advil doesn't, there isn't much choice as the alternative of living with high-level pain isn't a good one. |

After reading the poll questions again I decided I should have answered Advil. I took Tylenol only because I could not take Advil. I always felt that Advil helped more with the pain and if I wouldn't have had side effects from it I would have continued taking it. The Tylenol was like my "comfort food." Actually before my LLMD wrote me a script for Meloxicam I had switched to Motrin in desperation.
So if I could have a do over I would put my black mark in the Advil circle not the Tylenol circle.

Liquid blue advil definitely!
Without it, I have no idea how I would manage. But when I was not on abx, it didn't matter which painkiller I was on, IBS was out of control.
And when I take tylenol, it barely touches the pain, if at all, and is really really hard on my stomach.

I live off Advil, if it wasn't for Advil I won't make it thru the day.I also use Jr Advil on Jesse and it helps him big time, if he has pain in his knees and toes in the morning before school, I give him his dosage and he gets thru the whole school day.
Tylenol is too hard on the stomach and liver, and doesn't help.

| crazy thing, but since starting 1000 mcg methyl-b12, i've pretty much rid myself of the migraines that i'd had almost constantly for 25 years. yahoo! nothing else the neurologist tried with me worked (at least 10 different meds), and certainly tylenol did absolutely nothing. |

I used to be an advil junkie. I remember telling my neurosurgeon that I took two every four hours for back pain (had three neck surgeries).
Since starting antibiotics I no longer have the back pain that wreaked havoc on me. Had sciatica once or twice but not the serious back pain I used to have.
Personally I think the back issues I had were all lyme related.
But if I need to curb any pain it's always been advil for me.
