| I thought this might make for an interesting discussion. How much difference does drinking lots of water make in lyme treatment? |

Hey so far we have only had 6 votes but the water drinkers are so far a clear winner.
If you have not voted already please do so.
Thanks,

I think the quality of water would make a difference. If a person is drinking straight out of the tap where a lot of chlorine was being used, or drinking highly mineralized water or many other possibilities, it would affect the impact on you.
For years I drank from a pure, glacier fed water source, no chemicals and supposedly no bugs. Until one day, some people got sick and a boil water order was established and our little town's water supply became treated.
As a councilor with the town at the time and one who really appreciated drinking our unadulterated water, I didn't want to have any kind of treatment applied to our water.
This occurred shortly before Walkerton, and I became educated about water treatment facilities! We eventually got a class-A water treatment facility using filtration and with little chlorine, only enough to keep the filtered water from being contaminated on its way from the water treatment center to a person house.
It surprises me that there are still so many places that use mostly chlorine for their water treatment and people aren't too concerned about that.
Anyway that is where my mind goes when we talk drinking lots of water. I now live in a city with chlorinated water and I filter it and drink it and dream of the good old days.

Good point Jeannie,
We have chlorinated and choramined water here so I have a reverse osmosis water system. In fact I found that the tap water he in BC was making me sick.
Better filtered than sick!

Sue,
I have read that reverse osmosis is the best for purification. Where do you purchase a unit? Is it something that hooks up to your tap?
thanks,

Hi Diana,
If I was going to buy another Reverse Osmosis system I would look at the ones with the UV filters. Somehow I think that would be better than just R/O but for the life of me can't remember why.
There are several places that sell them such as Home Depot but if I were to buy one again I would go to Union Pumps on Fraser Highway in Langley I think it is 260th but I can look up the address for you. This is where we get all our filters for less than anywhere else I have found. Plus they will service them if there is a problem.
These systems hook up under your sink and you install a separate tap for dispensing R/O water. You can also get whole house units.
If and when we move to a new home I will not install it under the sink because it makes filter changing difficult. I would instead install the system at counter height and hide it with an applicance garage.
Hope this helps,
